Today's Energy Insight

MYTH: Leaving fans on in the summer when you leave the house is a good way to keep rooms cool.

FACT: Fans move the air, but they don't really cool it, and leaving them on when no one is around is a waste of energy and money. Fans actually provide a wind chill effect, which makes you feel cooler by accelerating the evaporation of perspiration on your skin. So be sure to turn off fans in unoccupied areas and especially when you leave your office or house.
